1:43-Scale, Hand-built Model of the Tyrrell Ford 012, 1983 Austrian Grand Prix by Pierre Laugier LP Creation

1:43-Scale, Hand-built Model of the Tyrrell Ford 012, 1983 Austrian Grand Prix

This version of the Tyrrell 012 had one of the most unusual rear wings ever seen in Formula One and was affectionately known as "The Boomerang" due to its triangular shape.  Unfortunately "The Boomerang"  only ever made one appearance at a Grand Prix during the first practice session for the 1983 Austrian race in the hands of Michele Alboreto.  The car didn't make it past this session and Alboreto drove the more conventional version of the 012 during the race.

The model was built with the Tameo Silverline kit with a number of modifications as usual.  In particular, I have painted the carbon surfaces in black rather than using the supplied decals, which I think gives a more realistic finish.  I have also made the trumpet cover from real wire mesh so that they can be seen through the grill, not just from the side.

The other modifications are similar to those on my other recent models, such as new, scratch-built suspension arms and fuel injectors, and the addition of cabling and wires.

The model was finished in 2021.  The price of the model is 1,250.00 Euros (excl. French sales tax*), plus shipping, and it is available to order.
