One-off, 1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Fully-opening, Hand-built Model of the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Le Mans 1981

This is a new, one-off, 1:43-scale model of the Lancia Beta Montecarlo 'Martini' from Le Mans 1981.  Car #65 was driven by Michele Alboreto, Eddie Cheever and Carlo Facetti to a Group 5 class win, finishing in 8th position overall.

As a base for the model I’ve used a Racing 43 white-metal kit which I have transformed by making an all-new scratch-built interior using brass and nickel silver.  Whilst I did keep some of the original bodywork from the kit, I overmoulded the front and rear covers in resin to make new, lighter parts.  Having lighter covers makes displaying the model fully-open much easier.

Other scratch-built parts, either in brass, nickel silver or resin, include the doors, seat, dashboard, steering column, chassis, roll-bar, and engine, amongst many others.

The work-in-progress of this model was on display at Retromobile 2026.  It was finished in the summer of 2026.
