1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Fully-opening, Scratch-built Model of the Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Low Drag, Le Mans 1964

This project from 2022 is a one-off, scratch-built model of the Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Low Drag from Le Mans 1964.  The  base of the model is an AMR kit of the E-Type cabriolet, but it has been completely transformed into a Lightweight Low Drag coupé.

These transformations include the addition of a scratch-built roof to make it a coupe, plus various scratch-built parts in brass and other materials -

  • chassis and sills

  • door frames in brass which are hollow inside

  • window frames

  • rear hood with a working hinge

  • suspension system including a functioning steering rack

  • engine cradle

  • exhaust manifold

  • oil and water tanks

  • dashboard and steering wheel

Brass nuts have been added to the engine to resemble valves, and rivets have been added to the bodywork, in particular to the overlapping join on the roof of the car, which has also been added from scratch.  The wheel rims are also scratch-built in turned aluminium.

This version of the Lightweight is #16 driven by Lindner/Nocker, plate number 4868 WK, chassis number S850662, which abandoned the race in the 16th hour.

The model has now been sold, but if you are interested in getting a quote for a similar model, please do not hesitate to Contact Me.
