1:43-Scale, Hand-built Model of the Alfa Romeo 177, 1979 Belgian Grand Prix

The Alfa Romeo 177 made its first appearance at a Formula One race at the 1979 Belgian Grand Prix.  The 177 had been developed by Autodelta for Alfa's return to Formula One after a break of 28 years since winning the title in 1951.

This model is Bruno Giacomelli's car from that race and has been built using the Tameo Silverline kit.

The photos on my work bench show various modifications to the kit during the work-in-progress. The two air intakes for the engine on the rear of the body have been opened up and then covered with real wire mesh.  I have also cut through the front nose and added new, brass parts to create real airflow inlets.  The rear suspension system has also been upgraded with the addition of brass parts - the last two photos show the original parts from the kit followed by the new version with the engine.

The model was finished in 2021 and has now been sold.  If you are interested in this model, or would like a quote for something similar, please do not hesitate to Contact Me.
