1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Hand-built Model of the Lancia D50, 1955 Monaco Grand Prix

This Lancia D50 was driven by Ascari at the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix where he famously crashed it into the harbour. Sadly it was the great champion’s last race as he died a few days later testing at Monza.

This model was built using a 1:43-scale Model Factory Hiro kit. Like the Eagle-Weslake, I kept largely to a “from-the-box” build, although I made some improvements to the engine by adding various fuel lines and cables such as the spark plug wires, and adding individual rivets to the bodywork.

The model was completed in January 2014 and was exhibited at Retromobile 2014.
