This model from a Model Factory Hiro kit is Ayrton Senna’s Lotus 98T, winner of the 1986 Detroit Grand Prix. Starting on pole, this was Senna’s first win in the USA, beating the Williams’ of Mansell & Piquet into second and third place.
This Hiro model was built “from-the-box”, and did not require the addition of many new parts as the existing MFH parts were very good. Nevertheless I did add a number of small parts to improve the appearance of the model, such as the various cables, and I also spent a long time working on the carbon parts to create as realistic a finish as possible.
The particular model was completed in November 2015 and was on display at Retromobile 2016.
