1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Hand-built Model of the
Lotus Ford 49B, 1968 Monaco Grand Prix

Having made Jim Clark's Lotus 49 a few years ago, I've now also made World Champion Graham Hill's 49B 'Gold Leaf' using a Tameo World Champions Kit. The  model is the winning car from the 1968 Monaco Grand Prix.

As with previous super-detailed models, I have made a number of modifications to the kit using my own scratch-built parts.  One new feature on this model, as with the March 701, is the addition of scratch-built fuel injectors, each of which is made from 5 parts. There are some photos which show the steps in creating these parts from brass and aluminium; the wire for this example was added later (photos are from the March 701).  I have also created new, scratch-built parts for the suspension using aluminium tubing.  As with other recent models, other features include a new dashboard with instruments made from turned parts rather than decals; a new gear stick; new water lines in aluminium tube which are attached to the body with scratch-built brackets in brass; various nuts and bolts have been added to the bodywork; grills have been added to the trumpets; and various lines and cables added to the engine.

This particular model was finished in 2020 and has now been sold. However, it is available to order, so please do not hesitate to Contact Me if you have any questions, or if you are interested in placing an order for a Lotus Ford 49B, or a similar model.
