1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Hand-built Model of the Lotus Ford 48 F2, 1967 Barcelona F2 Grand Prix

This project is a new, super-detailed model of Jim Clark's Formula Two Lotus Ford 48, winner of the 1967 Barcelona F2 Grand Prix, which took place at Montjuïc Park.

The model has been built using an SMTS Models white-metal kit as a base with various additions and transformations to make it into the version from Barcelona with a high level of detail.

Firstly, I have re-etched various etchings on the main bodywork, in particular I have changed the shape of the outline of the opening in front of the cockpit - the first 3 photos show the orignal bodywork with the first modifications, which can be seen more clearly in photo no. 6.  I've also opened up the air inlets and added a new, scratch-built part in brass.

I have also added various new, scratch-built parts, in particular a new front and back suspension system (as can be seen in photo no. 5 onwards), created using soldered brass and turned aluminium; a new dashboard with instruments made from turned parts rather than decals; new wheel rims with added tyre valves, both in turned aluminum (photos 10 and 11 show an original rim next to a new one); and a new gear box made from plasticard.

The model was finished in 2022 and it was on display at Retromobile 2022.

The model has now been sold, but If you are interested in a quote for a similar model, please do not hesitate to Contact Me.
