1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Scratch-built Model of the
Jaguar E-Type 'Lightweight', Le Mans 1964
This project is a new, scratch-built model of the Jaguar E-Type 'Lightweight' from Le Mans 1964. The base of the model is an AMR kit of the E-Type cabriolet, but it is being completely transformed into a Lightweight coupé.
These transformations include the addition of the roof to make it a coupe, plus various scratch-built parts in brass -
-
chassis and sills
-
door frames in brass which are hollow inside
-
window frames
-
rear hood with a working hinge
-
suspension system including a functioning steering rack
-
engine cradle
-
exhaust manifold
Brass nuts have been added to the engine to resemble valves. The wheel rims are also scratch-built in turned aluminium (the tyres in the photos are just to help with the presentation). The oil and water tanks are now being made.
This version of the Lightweight will be #16 driven by Lindner/Nocker, plate number 4868 WK, chassis number RA 1347-95, which abandoned the race in the 16th hour.
This project was begun in early 2022. More information and new photos will be added as the project progresses.
