1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Fully-opening, Hand-built Model of the Ferrari 126 C2, 1982 USA West Grand Prix

This new model is the Ferrari 126 C2 from the 1982 USA West Grand Prix at Long Beach, driven by Gilles Villeneuve.  He finished 3rd, but was later disqualified following complaints about the unusual configuration of the rear wing, which was made up of two wings placed side-by-side and then staggered, so that in practice it was a single wing, but double the width.

The base for this model is the white-metal Model Factory Hiro kit, which has been modified with lots of new, fine detailing and scratch-built parts.

I've made new steering rods in brass and new radiator pipes using aluminium tubes; I've added nuts to the opening on the radiator cover; I've made new, scratch-built seat belts; and I've added new fuel lines with scratch-built rubber seals and hose clamps, along with various other lines and cables,  to the engine.

I've also concentrated on the quality of the paintwork of various parts to create a more realistic finish.  For example the carbon Kevlar parts of the underbody have been hand-painted using a stencil, and I've used aluminium-effect paints on the cockpit.

The model is presented on a plexi-glass base (with plexi-glass cover), with an LP Creation name plate in brass.

The model was finished in late 2022 and it was on display at Retromobile 2023
