1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Hand-built Model of the Eagle-Weslake, Winner Belgian Grand Prix 1967

The Eagle-Weslake was designed for driver Dan Gurney’s Anglo American Racers team to compete in the Formula One Championship. It was the car that earned the team their only Championship victory, driven by Gurney at the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix.

Gurney is one of only three drivers to win a Formula One Grand Prix in a car of their own construction, and this win still stands as the only F1 victory for a USA-built car.

This model was built using a 1:43-scale Model Factory Hiro kit.

The commission was for a fairly simple build, so the only changes that I decided to make to the kit were to add individual rivets to the bodywork. I also made some improvements to the engine by adding various fuel lines and cables such as the spark plug wires.

The photos show a mixture of two completed models as well as details of the finished engine. The first model was completed in April 2013, the second model in October 2019.
